place a piece of composition over wax put hot iron over that and the paper will engage the wax when melted by the iron.

Well, it depends in if the purse is cloth or leather. If leather then I would consent to it dry and then discreetly peel the wax rotten. If it is cloth then I would run it to a dry cleaner and see if they can get the wax out. You can try a hot iron but, that might harm the bag.
