We had a party and a friend get literally pissy drunk and peed on hisself while lying on our couch. The urine, of course, went through his clothing onto the cushions on our couch, which luckily is a markedly dark color. Neither Febreze nor Shout works. I can unzip the cushions but they will not fit in the washer or dryer. How can I be rid of the smell and clense my couch?

It would really be best if you could use the upholstrey attachement from a carpet cleaner to really give it a upright scrubbing then imbue it in white vinegar and allow to dry in the sunshine sitting up on its side to dry completely for the afternoon. If you enjoy no such machine to scrub the surface, just saturate it through and through with white vinegar and setting it in the sunshine and fresh nouns for a day to dry will effectively sanitize, deodorize and freshen the otherwise ruined cushion. Vinegar will break down the molecules and bacteria that effect the smell unlike all those costly sprays even from the pet store that claim to do just that. i buy the 1 gallon bottle from Wal-Mart for $1.28.

Answers:    Hand valet the cushions and covers in the bath tub contained by blood heat water as abundant times as necessary to 'flush' out the urine.
