I have been trying to dye grey cotton resembling fabric black but it does n't seem to stay that means of access when i iron it or dry it at. I have been 'using the little round pots I mull over there called Dyon cold?I'd approaching to know if I'm using the rite thing or is there a more decisive way of making it black? Thanks
it should be so simple with a black dye. going from grey to black on cotton shouldn't be a problem. Try a different brand of dye, perchance a hot water one, more effective than cold. biddable luck. just use the black dye. it's that simple..
Dylon do a wash machine dye that's very confident to use, Woolworth and Wilkinson sell it. But if you have tried already it may be that what you are dying isn't cotton. Some fabric are not suitable to dye. So check the fabric content of the garment and then the dye packet to gross sure they are compatible. If you don't want to use your washing machine, the cold dampen dyes need to be set, either beside a commercial setting agent or with salt, again read the instructions thoroughly. I other used Rit dye and it worked pretty well - I'm not sure if it's still around by the same heading, but if you go to a local fabric and craft store, they should hold a wide selection. Make sure you set the material in the dye long enough for it to hold enough dye and then do your rinse somewhere trouble-free to clean because black dye is a mess.
Answers: A few pointers for you:
Check the material is 100% cotton - the sign should say.
Different dyes suit different materials - the package should right to be heard.
If 100% cotton buy the box of dylon and machine wash the article near the dye at the recommended temp. plus add the recommended quantity of brackish - see instructions.
Ensure you do not overload the machine or bundle up the material too tight.
Dry when cycle completed and iron.
Best of luck.
