Answers:    Try Goo Gone, which is contains and smells similar to orange grease - is sold in Home Depot, Target, Walmart, etc. Do not spray directly on mat - spray onto a cloth and consequently rub on adhesive spot. Once the glue is removed, you need to thoroughly bathe the spot with soap and marine. Be careful using this on rubber, but should be ok on most synthetics.

F/Y/I, most adhesive are easily removed from any surface (except newspaper or cardboard) with some sort of slimy substance, like peanut butter, olive grease or an oil-based cleaner like Goo Gone. Some family use lighter fluid or similar cleaner compounds, but I have other thought that a bad perception myself.
