I have a glorious efficiency wash machine and I be wondering if a homemade laundry soap made with borax, ivory, and wash soda would work in an HE contraption. I've heard these soaps are low sudsing, but I simply want to see what others say. Thanks!
Yes, this kind of homemade soap does work. Look up a website call, "Living on a Dime. com". The writer, Tawra Kellam has used this humane of soap and it is ok for a HE washer. Lucky You!! =) I've heard HE's are great. Enjoy!
I love my HE machine, but hold only used soft soaps so far. I use vegetable based, 7th classmates or Ecos magnolia and lily with soy textile softener, which smells great.
I use very little detergent. It doesn't hold much.
I don't see why the homemade soap would be any problem.
Answers: Yes they work very well in HE machines. Just use 1 tablespoon per nouns, if you are using the powdered detergent recipe.
For the liquid (gel) type, no more than 1/2 cup. I would reccommend 1/4 cup for common loads.
