Help! Anyone know how to win melt hearth rug sour my cotton shirt? Un be knowing to me, my son put a hot iron face...

Un be knowing to me, my son put a hot iron face down on my claret coloured mat, the carpet melt onto the iron. I didn't check that the bottom of the iron was verbs and put it straight onto the back of my husband's 'brand new' lb60.00 cotton shirt, and here is now a nice patch of melt carpet on it.

Has anyone any accepted wisdom how I can remove it? Or is it just going to be an expensive handkerchief!
