we just got a dryer on sunday it is 2nd mitt and been stored in a garage for slightly some time anyway the lint filter is all clean but as soon as i turned it on i smelt funny similar to a burning smell so i turned it off, could this be just dust from storage how would i bring rid of all that safely so i can dry my clothes?
Answers:    The nouns that goes through the clothes is drawn up from the inside, past the item to the drum. Likely in moving it, dust on the bottom was loosened and next when you ran it the dust was pulled up on the constituent where it burnt.

Dryer are supposed to be open up and the dust removed on occasion. I assumed it was electric and not gas. Gas have the burner on the bottom and it is even more important to clean those out. But those hold a panel on the lower front for access.

Electrics require opening the top and removing the front to service them.

Good Luck.
Wash the lint filter under a running hose down tap. It can be blocked with an invisible show from those anti-static sheets people use in dryers, even though the filter might look without fault clean.
