Flies - SOS!?
the flies are getting into my apt - so far, haven't located the entry...however, i do have one window screen and another 2" opening covered w/cheesecloth [4 layers] in the kitchen. i just now checked the one in kitchen [ventilation purposes] - there are no opening or slits i could see. and the bathroom i taped over the opening.
i terminated 15 monday; 1 yesterday and so far 1 today. these are NEW ones not ones that hold been here all along so any they laid eggs or are coming in thru the walls.
in any event - does anyone own TNT [TRIED AND TRUE] FULLPROOF, way of
1-sending them away
2-terminating them w/out filling my lungs w/poisonous spray
i've also be looking for fly paper or a no-pest strip - still no luck on that.
the only piece that's worked so far is putting about a .5" water w/dish detergent compassionately distributed as to not to make bubbles in my kitchen sink overnight. i get about 5 that way...
SOS!!
they're driving me crazy
More likely than flies getting in someplace is maggots already here maturing into flies.
An incredibly thorough cleaning, including the depths of every drawer, cupboard, and closet, may turn up something animal or vegetable which has rotted or gotten wet and become a nursery for flies.
Bleach won't affect anything, and I push for against insect sprays on food preparation surfaces.
Keep the place absolutely free of food crumbs. Do the dishes immediately after drinking. Eat only at the table, and vacuum under it normally. Empty wastebaskets frequently, the kitchen daily, whether it's full or not. Run the garbage disposal if within is one. Sweep and damp-mop your kitchen often.
Removing maggots and all food sources will clear this up greatly better than fly paper, pest strips, or toxic sprays.
You must hold a breeding ground some where under the house or contained by the attic. How do you cool and heat.(check those vents). I would suggest a bomb spray. They have them for roaches. It could work on flies. Also look at the surroundings out side around your apt. Ask your neighbor if they own the same problem. I would like to know how this turns out. All hardware and country stores have the fly strips. My mom puts a bucket full of water with bleach outside her front door.this help, try it!
