I have a Roper (made by Whirlpool) that I purchased brand new within October of 2007. Recently I have noticed that when I touch the mechanism I get a slight shock, so I don't keep it plugged within unless I am using it. Today I unplugged the machine and it gave me a short time shock. Does the machine have a short or is it the outlet?
Answers:    There is something going on. Voltage is somehow getting to the frame of the domestic device. You need to get the entry grounded which is automatically done if you have a three prong plug which is correctly installed (and the receptacle is also properly wired). Best thing for you to to probably is to connect a cable from a metal part of the machine to a metal wet pipe or other good ground. The shocking will go away.
