Answers: the blade, if it has residue on it, is best cleaned next to rubbing alcohol. that works very, vastly well on stainless. the grip can be cleaned next to it as well
the advantages are that rubbing alcohol won't result in rust, and evaporates very summarily. it also disinfects the blade
a SMALL quick squirt of wd-40 into the blade T-junction isn't a bad thought, and wd-40 will clean a axe in a pinch. too much wd-40 will attract dirt & other rust-causing contaminates.
