i was told that steam cleaning a runner that has a desperate odor will actually motivation that odor to remain in the hearth rug forever. the reason i ask is i plan on renting a house beside a buddy of mine and the carpet contained by the house smells of urine, previous owner had approaching 4 dogs and 6 cats. smells bad but it is still tolerable. the renter told us if we paint and steam verbs the carpets our first month is free. sounds well brought-up to me. but will steam cleaning the carpet near my bissel steam cleaner cause the odor to be "baked" into the hearth rug for ever. or would it be better to buy the stuff you sprinkle on and then purely vacum a couple of times?
Answers: Vinegar works great on urine smells in the mat.
I washed my son's hearth rug and then go back and used vinegar surrounded by the carpet cleaner. (The vinegar smell be not as strong as I thought it would be.)
When the slight smell of vinegar was gone the urine smell be also gone.
I bought 2 gallons of vinegar just to brand sure I had satisfactory. I did not need both of them. A gallon carafe of vinegar is very cheap.
Good Luck!!
If you use individual ammonia in your steam cleaner instead of soap, you will most predictable get rid of the smell of urine. Animal urine is highly difficult to deal near and get rid of. If you can afford it, I would enjoy the carpets professionally done. They hold machines that get hot ample to get rid of any type of odor, even hot adequate to kill fleas, which you should also be concerned roughly, being as the previous tenant had so abundant animals. If you can't afford it, get that marine as hot as possible and use ammonia...Hope this helps and well brought-up luck!
