Best path to iron a men's cotton shirt?
With a steam iron. I have be doing my own ironing since I was a kid. I usually do the collar, then the sleeves and after the body. But the sequence doesn't really make a lot of difference. steam iron on the cotton setting...try to gain the sleeves ironed symmetrically so that the creases at the shoulders are in the same spots
I similar to to use a little spray starch, available for less than $2..00 at any grocery store. Don't use too much if not the shirt will be too stiff.
Next, the sleeves get wrinkled first when you are wearing a shirt, so iron them first. They may wrinkle a little as you finish the shirt, but it will not situation too much. I like to lay the seam on the sleeve flat before hitting it next to heat. (ie: seam right on the edge, after iron up toward the crease.
Next, collar, then back panel.
Finish beside the front panels, they need to look the best.
I also similar to to put a double seam down the back perfectly straight to the bottom, but I am thoroughly detail oriented when I iron a shirt... Most people do not incorporate the seam to the back of their dress shirts.
Answers: Steam iron, order of ironing is: collar first, ironing in to the middle respectively end (to avoid those little rucks on the edge), cuffs and sleeves next, later work from one front, on to the back and then the other front. If it is really dry and wrinked, unless you own a super steam iron, dampen down and roll up before ironing.
Steam iron definatly breed sure when you are ironing that you don't fold the clothing because it will leave a crease in the cloth
So be sure its laid out flat!
Good Luck!! =]
