Answers: I would use paper towels and find all up that you can. Then I would put down some baking soda and cover it next to more paper towels. The baking soda will hold your attention what is there and the tabloid towels will absorb even more. If you do not enjoy baking soda, use a talcom powder or other powder like babe-in-arms powder. After a day or two, I would clean up the area near a grease cutting soap and see what it looks close to. You could then use Murphy's Oil Soap. It will not hurt the wood.
When you bring a spill always try to wipe it up and past its sell-by date the wood as soon as possible. Remember that wood will always swell contained by the presence of water. In your baggage the lamp grease would do more damage to the finish (finish hase) than to the wood. First remove the grease by wiping beside a dry cotton rag or daily towels. Then use mineral spirits to remove the oil and do a final wipe beside a dry cotton or paper towel to remove as much of the residue as possible. This should remove most or adjectives of the oil and the solvent residue will evaporate inside the next few days.
